As you become more accustomed to your chicks, you will easily be able to tell when you should raise or lower the lamp. If your chicks are in an unheated building (like mine), keep track of the outside temperatures, too. On really cold days and nights, you may need to lower the lamp. If the outside temperature is balmy, and your building warms up, you may be able to shut the lamp off for a few hours. Just watch and listen. And enjoy!
