This is a great time of a year for a free-range chicken: The spring garden hasn’t been planted, so the garden, yard and flower beds are all open for foraging and scratching … without a fence or barrier in sight!
This is also a great time to announce the winner of the giveaway of my last post! Free-Range Chicken Gardens by Jessi Bloom goes to Maggie Rogers! Drop me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org with your address and I’ll send the book your way!
Wait! There’s more! Storey Publishing has included my personal blog (the garden-roof coop) in a blog tour promoting their new book The Chicken Encyclopedia by Gail Damerow. To celebrate the release of the book, Storey Publishing has generously offered to give a free book to one of my lucky readers! So … go to this site, the garden-roof coop, and leave a comment on the post: “The Chicken Encyclopedia GIVEAWAY!” In two weeks, I’ll announce the winner of this giveaway!
Recently I was talking to a friend about my little flock of free-range hens, and she asked how I got them to go back to the coop. I said, “Well, I simply call them home.” Check out the video below … What could be better than free-range chickens set to bluegrass music!
